Durga Ashtami or Maha Ashtami is one of the most auspicious period of ten days long Durga Pua Festival in India. Fastings are undertaken by many people on this reverent occasion.

The festivities takes place on a magnificent scale among people belonging to the state of West Bengal. The huge and artistic pandals, magnificient idols of goddess Durga, people dancing on the beats of drum and evenings surrounded with the divine tunes of Goddess Durga aarti are the unforgettable features of every Durga Puja celebration.
