For those who eat, drink and sleep cinema and who don’t shy away from the camera; aren’t afraid to voice their opinion, who love to express their creativity and dare to be different, the department fest of Multimedia and Mass Communication (MMMC) of Indraprastha College for Women is one of the finest platforms in India’s capital that beckons you. The annual media fest – ‘Parampara’, is a two day gala event featuring panel discussions and various competitions ranging from photography, RJ Hunt to film making and poetry.

BMMMC-IP College

The college, established in the year 1924, is the oldest women’s college at the University of Delhi. It was founded as a part of the nation wide campaign for women’s education and was recently awarded with ‘Naac’ Grade A. The college offers a wide range of courses to choose from.

The self financed ‘BMMMC Honours’ has an all encompassing course and fully-equipped studio and is heading strong into its 17th year. The fest is a much awaited and well loved convergence of ideas, camera and action! Taking place on the 9th and 10th of March 2017, it is definitely something to mark off your calendar.

Parampara, has always lived up to the tradition of churning out the best media fest which is talked about for days. Last year, the opening day saw distinguished guests from myriad media lines- Sattvik Mishra from the leading online media startup ‘ScoopWhoop’, Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar and journalist Bhupendra Chaubey from CNN News 18, to name a few. Radio City 91.1’s RJ Divya Vasudev (an alumni of Bmmmc) was invited to judge the RJ hunt competition.

The topic for this year’s Meet the Media discussion is ‘Rise of the right and its implications for mass media.’ The panelists include Shahantanu Ray, Shoma Chaudhury , Pavleen Gujral and Abhinandan Sekhri.  This is earmarked for the opening day i.e 9th March and is surely to be an eclectic exchange of diverse ideas.

For the shutterbugs, a Photography competition ‘Frame Politik’ is divided into two themes, competitive and non-competitive, registered entries will get to showcase their creativity through the lens. Results for online short film making competition ‘Showtime’ will also be announced on the same day.

The Ad Mad competition is another jovial contest which will test students’ imagination, vision and originality. Witty and chuckle-some, the competition will undoubtedly unleash the ‘mad men and women’.

The closing day, March 10, will see the much awaited RJ Hunt, with RJ Yuvi from Radio City as the judge. Young and budding voices with a knack for modulation will congregate to entertain and add extra joy to the festivity.

Next in line is The Bollywood quiz – Q  MAT. For the movie buffs , die-hard loyalists of the world of song and dance and who remember dialogues at their fingertips,  this is something you can’t afford to miss.

Last but not least , session of Poetry Slam – Puns N Proses would bring together students for a few hours of heartwarming expressions. The event is to be hosted by Shibani Das, founder of  Free the Verse and will undeniably be an inspiring affair.

The festival – from its conception, planning and execution is done by the students of the department. Multi-Media and Mass communication is an exclusive course offered only at Indraprastha college for Women. and its media fest is the testament to its inimitability. As voiced by head student organizer , Riddhima Sharma- “It is a perfect combination of  knowledge and fun.”
