Labour Reforms

(Resolution Adopted at its Executive Committee Meeting

on Feb. 10, 2015)

The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) congratulates the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its decisive victory in the elections to the Delhi assembly.

The DUJ hopes that the AAP which has received an overwhelming mandate from the people would fulfil the expectations of the people of Delhi, particularly the 'aam worker'  and the 'aam journalist.'

We hope that the AAP government will adopt policies that are pro-worker, curb corruption in the Labour Department of the Delhi government and ensure speedy justice to victimized media employees who spend decades fighting cases because of the slow process of the Labour Conciliation machinery.

The DUJ calls upon the AAP government to immediately set up a tripartite mechanism for the implementation of the long-delayed Wage Board for newspaper and news agency employees in the city. We also urge upon the AAP government to speedily create a mechanism to prevent unfair labour practices in the media industry and in the capital
