ONE IN A MINION...

Minions- Sandra Bullock-fnbworld

The highly anticipated, newly released ‘Minions’ movie starts off with a few good gags  and a lot of potential for hilarity. Stuart, Kevin and Bob set out to find a super-villain to serve after failing several worthy historical beasts...by getting them all killed.  Obviously, and most disappointingly, this all predates the minion union with the evil but hysterical Gru.

The minion three-some embark on an almost funny journey to meet - and hopefully serve - the first villainess of all time, Scarlett Overkill.  Unfortunately, even the star power of Sandra Bullock couldn't save some of the most mundane scenes to follow as Stuart, Kevin and Bob have to prove their loyalty and worth to Scarlett by stealing Queen Elizabeth's crown.

One of the things that impressed me about the minion characters is that no matter how much gibberish they grunt to one another, it is somehow very clear what they are trying to communicate. ..and children love those expressions (bananas, anyone?).

Without giving any more of the movie away, the main story could have been wrapped up quicker and tighter. This would have and should have left more time to really capitalize on a much needed surprise at the end of the film.

Minions-fnbworldWith a running time of an hour and forty five minutes, my favourite (coming in at 1h39 min.) and probably the most amusing minion joke was the "snow globe!" punchline - you'll understand when you see it for yourself.

Overall, it is worth going to see this film if you are with anyone twelve and under, otherwise wait to see the release on Blu-Ray/DVD.
